What made you decide to pursue your degree in WDOC?

I’ve been in love with art, design and all things creative for as long as I can remember. After I earned my Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication, I thought I was done with school. But there was a part of me that wanted more. The self-taught skills I had picked up along the way were not enough to satisfy my craving to create. I finally decided to make the jump and pursue my degree in WDOC so I could bring my visions to life.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned in your classes?

Communicating effectively through design is definitely one of the biggest things I’ve learned in the program thus far. I now see things through a different set of eyes when it comes to design!

What have you learned in your classes that you have already applied to your job?

My new gained knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and CSS have been extremely helpful in the creation of marketing campaigns and other collateral in my current position as a Marketing & Communications Manager. Having the skills to create these items from beginning to end has made me a more rounded communicator.

What are your career aspirations?

My hope is to continue to grow in the marketing field and use my talents to assist companies in delivering their message to their intended audience. My ultimate dream would be to eventually join a non-profit organization.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of achieving?

I’m truly proud of all the work I’ve done in the program thus far (yes, even the not-so good ones!) Although if I had to choose, I’d say coding a website from scratch without any prior HTML/CSS knowledge. It’s been such an amazing learning experience! I love a good challenge, I love learning and most of all—I love growing. This program has provided me the opportunity to do all 3 while working a full time job and chasing after my 2 boys.
