What made you decide to pursue your degree in WDOC?

The WDOC program appealed to my artistic side and my logical mindset. I want to create visually strong graphics and websites that are able to communicate effectively. The program teaches a wide variety of hard skills that I’m hoping will be valuable to employers. I enjoy how practical it is- I get to create a lot of content in my classes to build my portfolio and practice my skills.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned in your classes?

White space is not your enemy! It’s the title of one of our textbooks, and it’s a concept that I find myself thinking about a lot when designing. Cluttered layouts are unappealing.

What have you learned in your classes that you have already applied to your job?

I’ve been able to create an entire integrated marketing campaign, including a logo, social media graphics, and print materials for a new program we are starting!

What are your career aspirations?

I’m still trying to figure that out, but I see myself designing effective websites for a nonprofit organization, overseeing a creative team or possibly freelancing someday.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of achieving?

Designing and coding my own portfolio site from scratch!
