What made you decide to pursue your degree in WDOC?

I really enjoy designing and creating layouts for print marketing materials and with many businesses relying on online communication, I felt like I was setting myself up for success in the future by pursuing this degree.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned in your classes?

HTML and CSS in Web Design Principles. I have never coded anything in my life, so this class was extremely intimidating but my professor made it so easy to understand and in the end, I accomplished so much!

What have you learned in your classes that you have already applied to your job?

I am currently a 4th grade math teacher (talk about a career changer!) but I create a lot of lessons, worksheets, and activities for my students to do, so the InDesign knowledge I gained from my first semester has helped with these.

What are your career aspirations?

I began this program hoping to work for a big corporation in their communications/marketing department, but lately, I’ve been leaning more toward the freelancing route!

What accomplishment are you the proudest of achieving?

Getting into this program and continuing my education makes me extremely proud. I am happy to be learning about things I’m passionate about – such as design.
