What made you decide to pursue your degree in WDOC?

I decided to pursue my degree in WDOC because I had been working in the TV News industry for almost ten years and I was looking to further my career. I had an interest in web development and I knew that everyone needs a website today. I also counted on my experience as a photojournalist helping me out in this new field.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned in your classes?

I had only the tiniest bit of coding knowledge and so learning how to code HTML, CSS, JavaScript and all the other technical aspects of the program were the most interesting to me.

What have you learned in your classes that you have already applied to your job?

This program has already allowed me to leave the news industry. After my first two semesters, I got a job as a graphic designer and a few months before I graduated I got a job as a web designer. I use the things I have learned in the program every single day.

What are your career aspirations?

I am happy in my new job but I think I eventually would like to move more into the development side. After acquiring some work experience as a web designer, I will probably try to look for front-end developer positions.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of achieving?

Every site build I complete makes me proud. Successfully making websites interactive with JavaScript also makes me proud because that was the most difficult aspect of the program for me.
