What made you decide to pursue your degree in WDOC?

I decided to pursue my master’s in WDOC after a few years of restaurant management, and a dire need of a career change. My thought – what is holding me back from a career that I truly find interesting? I went for it. I have had an on-going passion for graphic design throughout my life and I am so eager to learn and absorb as I continue my education.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned in your classes?

The biggest thing I have learned in my classes? There is more to web design than meets the eye!

What have you learned in your classes that you have already applied to your job?

I work in graphic design in the context of menu engineering, and I have applied my skills learned in the Adobe programs, design principles I have learned, and acquired communication principles. That is just the tip of the iceberg – WDOC instills very practical principles across the board.

What are your career aspirations?

I wish I had clear and defined career aspirations for myself! Currently I am interested in menu engineering, but as I explore the industry I am sure that will morph.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of achieving?

I am most proud of my progression through HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript! Coding was so very foreign to me, and after just two semesters in the program I have a very solid foundation and understanding in the coding arena.
