Requirements/Project’s Goals

Create a logo for a high-end hair salon focusing on modern hairstyles and hair coloring in Los Angeles. Logo must have company name and can also include a graphical element.

Inspirations

I was inspired by stylish and chic logos for high-end clothing brands, such as Gucci, Dior or Prada. Usually the company’s name is alone or surrounded by minimal graphic elements, because the name is powerful enough. Text is usually all-caps and in black and white. I wanted to create something sophisticated and elegant with a similar feel.

Targeted Audience

Celebrities, Young professionals ages 21-40, People interested in fashion-forward designs.

Design/Coding Stages/Steps

I first came up with the company name, and then played around with different layouts of the name. I added the lines to make it a little more interesting than the text alone. I then created a smaller version with just the initials and an “S” with the lines to keep the favicon simple.

Favorite Aspect of Project

I loved putting the logo into a mockup form so you can see it on a shirt, envelope and bag, as you would in the salon. It really made the logo come to life.

What did you learn while completing this Project?

Again, mockups are amazing! You can take many designs and easily insert them into a real-life situation. This is so helpful to me because often when designing I can’t picture what it will actually look like until printed or produced.
