Requirements/Project’s Goals

For this project, we were required to make a website about an animal. This project was completed in two parts. The first part was a base site, coded entirely using CSS and HTML5. The site had to include image hover effects, pseudo classes, pseudo elements, advanced css coding (like shapes or text texturing), an animated navigation and several additional CSS Animations. The final version enhanced the initial design using JavaScript. We were required to include several uses of JavaScript.

Inspirations

I look to color palates on Pinterest for inspiration. I really base my designs around color and typography.

Targeted Audience

For this project, my target audience was potential employers. I wanted to display my design and coding abilities in an engaging way.

Skills/Techniques/Programs used

  • Skills: HTML5, CSS3, CSS Animations, JavaScript, jQuery, Sass (SCSS), Bourbon, Bower
  • Programs: Sublime, Cyberduck

Design/Coding Stages/Steps

I started by sketching my ideas out. I had to figure out how to incorporate multiple animations without overwhelming the user. I decided to keep the design simple, so that the focus could be on the animations.

Favorite Aspect of Project

I loved this project because I learned how to take my websites to the next level. The advanced coding methods we learned for this project, and the reinforcement of basic concepts, made me feel like a front-end web developer for the first time.

What did you learn while completing this Project?

I learned about CSS Animations, advanced CSS styling, SCSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
